The 8th Alert

This name refers to the alert triggered at 1:30 p.m. on June 6, 1944, during D-Day. On that day, Caen was a key objective for the British troops, while the Canadians were tasked with capturing the Carpiquet airfield.

The Allied bombers were assigned the mission of destroying the bridges over the Orne in order to block German reinforcements.
